Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are sisters of Central Asia. Once upon a time they were drafted into the Soviet Empire. But in a past life they were in Russian Empire. Further back there were home to Khans and an essential core of the Great Mongol Empire. Through the ages they are kept true to their culture and have taken their first steps into the modern world with radically different approaches.
From the Caspian to the Aral Sea, they sit alone and often ignored by the greater world, yet are players who song is just beginning.
