As flags are created in the wake of Providence.....
Guam and Sin Eustatius are tiny islands connected by a special type of synchronicity. It should instantly cause a double take. For this was no small accident.
These flags represent the beginning and ultimate ascendency of the United States, upon the World Stage.
Both isles were at one time colonized by Spain. From the Far West, the UK attempted to take over Sint Eustatius during the War of America's Genesis in 1776; during the WWII the Japanese from the Far East attempted to take over Guam, during America's ascendency, during the War of Endless Tears.
The first love, first win, and first place are deeply remembered. And the first place/nation to salute the US flag occurred here, at Sint Eustatius. The Dutch ruled the isle basically as a free trading port that allowed the infant American Republic to arm itself, a generation before the 2nd Amendment was twinkle in a Virginian's eye.
Thus the first sacred, tip of the hat or bow of the flag, was first given here to the first of first flags of the American Republic three months after the Declaration of Independence on November 16, 1776. For the first time, another nation acknowledged and affirmed the presence of the United States.
Today, English is the dominant language for these distant isles, permanently stuck in a distant, outer edge orbit of the United States. US money is the key currency for both places. Providentially, it was a large Jewish community of Sint Eustatius that helped the fledgling republic attain precious weapons.
Ergo in honor of that Jewish community, a Rabbi was chosen to hold the modern flag of Sint Eustatius. After the American Revolution, the Dutch would retained dominion over this island, with help from the French, and this isle still retains its outer, loose, link to Holland. The flag holder of Guam in a native Guamanian. And as Guam is loosely tied to the US, in the same manner the Sint Eustatius is tied to the Netherlands.
The airport of Sint Eustatius is named after an American President, FDR just as many towns and school in Guam get their namesake from US presidents. From one edge of the earth unto the other, they are flags for a people at America's Political Lagrange Points; L4 & L5. Or rather, they are American Trojan Asteroids.
From the Atlantic to the Pacific, these islands carry the karmic memory of America's start in 1776 and crowning glory and rise as the world leading naval power in 1945. Far from the US, yet so vitally a part of America's history.
Their framed flags of red, ring with a soulful Providence of colourful concord.
