Flags in Raising Arizona 1987

 Raising Arizona was a 'Dra-comedy' with original storytelling combined with talented acting. The state flag of Arizona appears several times.

Here Edwina, an officer of the law, meets her future husband, Hi the outlaw, at the police booking station.  In the background is the state flag of Arizona resting in a tie-draped croat manner.



 

The flag of Washington DC appears during the prison scene in a photo of JFK on the upper bunk.  Although this man had no name he was the initial essence origin of Bubba from Forrest Gump. 

Love is able to bring together two members on opposite poles of society - the law and outlaw.  In a similar notion to the genesis of Arizona was divided by the Union and Confederacy as a 'baby' when it was a territory.






Nicholas Cage is sitting here with a tattoo of Woody Wood Pecker.  Oddly this little mark would save his life.

Oddly a tattoo of Woody Wood Pecker helps saves Hi's life when he is confronted with the fury of vengeance.  The synchronicity of finding the exact tattoo on the bounty hunter gives Hi a moment of respite.  

Star Trek - Into Darkness Federation Flag

 

In the Star Trek Into Darkness 2013 the flag of the United Federation Planets appears.  As in many other Star Trek shows it appears as the central token in a funeral ritual and folded in a military like manner.  

The flag is composed of two colours - blue and white.  The background is white and a blue seal of the Federation in centered in the middle. 

 

LQG Flag - Large Quasar Group Flag

This is a flag of the largest known 'structure' or rather concentration of matter.  It is as much a part of us, you, and me.  Just as we are composed of atoms and electrons that whirl in our heart, this fantastic collection of stardust beyond is a part of our collective 'outer' body.  We are the world, sun, moon, stars and as the scientific establishment calls this the 'LQG.'  No moon, no us, nor no LQC no us.

The flag of the first known LQG uses the colours black, white, yellow, and orange.  The star like yellow symbol represents a quasar, while the black ones represent black holes.  The over all orange parallelogram represents the galaxies and quasars that are 'gravitationally' bound.

Lunar Twilight Flag

Tonight the ebbing embers of 2012 fade into memory.  The last moon of 2012 shines its glow upon the earth for the last time.  Tomorrow we get a moment to pause and the day after tomorrow the first completely new moon of 2013 will begin its monthly cycle with the sun.

In honor of this transitional period when days are 2013 and nights 2012, here is a flag to mark the occasion.  Its colours are purple, black and blue.  And of course it has a white crescent.  

Vexilloids in 12:01pm - short film 1990

12:01pm is a short film that fits well into the tempo of the 1990s.  It is the pre-echo of the Matrix and baseline melody for the smash hit Ground Hog Day.

12:01pm was a short sci-fi story originally written by Richard A. Lupoff.  In it a man is stuck repeating the same hour over and over.  It is a metaphor for life and brings into sharp focus the truly important things in life.

Although it may be short and harsh movie, upon deep contemplation its silver lining allows the audience to embrace and appreciate life in the now.  Barely noticeable where Myron begins his hourly existence a flag can been seen blowing in the wind in between two tall buildings.

Myron Castleman walks by a green and white banner announcing a community event.  Banners are vexilloids that need words, since symbols and shapes will have no meaning to others outside a group.

On the street pole are firm vexilloid city announcement banner that are often of a semi-offficial nature that announce events related to arts and entertainment.

Starring the classic sci-fi actor Kurtwood Smith, this contemplative movie is a must for those seeking a deeper meaning of life.
