The Guinea-Bissau Contiguous Zone flag looks remarkably like the flag of North Carolina. The key colour pattern of white on the lower fly area is conserved with both flags. Coincidentally North Carolina and Guinea-Bissau face the Atlantic Ocean on an East-West Axis. No doubt there are millions North Carolina persons who have a familial connections to Guinea-Bissau- as they do to Scotland, England, and Ireland.
The flag is a birthright flag for persons born in this international zone under the nominal control of Guinea-Bissau's security forces and coast guard.
