Fun Flag for Indium Element 49

The fun flag for Indium, Element 49, is based upon the old Colonial German Flag which was once a part of the East Indies, or rather the Spanish East Indies.  This flag reminds us that Germans were responsible for the discovery of this new material in our universe: Ferdinand Reich and Hieronymous Theodor Richter.  By luck, both of these men lived in what was to become East Germany, whence a small fraction of the East Indies were united with Germany. But these scientists lived long before WWII and WWI.  They lived in during the heart of the Imperial Age of Queen Victoria.

Official Flag of German New Guinea
Although the basis of this flag comes from the flag of German New Guinea, part of the East Indies were a part of Germany when Mr. Richter was alive.

The Central Coat of arms pays homage to the flag of modern India, where this element, by serendipity gets its namesake.  Since this element was discovered by its indigo blue line spectrum, it was called Indium, and at the time much of the world's indigo was made in India, and coincidentally Germany bonded with East India shortly after the discovery of Indium.  But remember only Mr. Richter, who co-discovered Indium, was able to live to see Germany's frontiers expand into fringes of India, or rather Spanish East India, via the Caroline and Mariana Islands.

An atom with Indium's Z number is present on a green field.  49 indicates that Indium has 49 protons in its nucleus, which gives it its chemical properties.

Fun Gallium Flag - Element 31

A fun flag for Gallium is aligned by providence, as it was created on the first day of the Year of the Rooster 2017.   Element 31 is a very special element.  It is a metal but it is a metal that is sensitive to the human touch.  Most metals are indifferent to human contact, but Gallium liquidates when it is touched by human hands, kinda' making one feel like a superhero.   This property of human touch to transformation is due to a unique melting point that is just below the human body temperature, at 85.58° F.  It's just one of those cosmic coincidences or rather an amazing atomic alignment.

Gallium is associated with the Gauls, where its namesake originates, thanks to Lecoq de Boisbaudran, who discovered it in 1875.  As the ancient French were one in one with Guals.

Since the rooster has become an unofficial national emblem for France, we have a rooster in the center of the coat of arms on the fun flag for Gallium.  It is a French Rooster of blue, white, and red.  Also present is the atomic Z number for Gallium - 31 and a fleur-de-lis.  The background is an homage to the French fleur-de-lis as a Fleur-de-Atoms. The modern flag of France is also hidden in the tail feathers.

Fun Dubnium Flag - Element 105

Dubnium is an element named after Dubna, Russia in Moscow.  The fun flag for this element has a modified coat of arms based upon the official Coat of Arms for Dubna, Russia.  The background is a modified Moscow, Regional Flag.  Like the Moscovium Flag, St. George, has been changed into a scientist wearing a blue radiation  hazard suit, and the dragon has been transformed into a Dubnium atom.  The scientist in the hazard suit is supposed to be Yuri Oganesson.   Dubna is a city within Moscow Province, not Moscow City-Proper.

Fun Flag for Livermorium - Element 116

The fun flag for the Element Livermorium is based upon the seal of Livermore, California and the County Flag of Alameda by San Francisco Bay.  Livermore kinda' gives Liverpool a run for its money in fame.  But in this case, Livermore's scientific fame will surely outlast Liverpool's musical fame.  Long after all the fans who were alive for the Beatles, will the fame of Livermore continue to shine in every science room across the world.

County Flag of Alameda
The flag for Livermorium includes a modified background of Alameda's County flag, since Livermorium is within Alameda County.  Instead of five stars, there are five atoms along the fly.  Also a modified seal based upon the official seal of Livermore is in the center.  The name of the element is present in a yellow ring, Livermorium.  Instead of the date established, the atomic Z number and word "ELEMENT" are present.  Livermore is famous for once being Cowboy country, having great wine, and where new atoms, were created in our solar system.  Surely other advanced life forms outside of our planetary system have already created element 116 and gave it some other name.

Ytterbium Fun Flag for Element 70

A flag for Element 70, Ytterbium, is based upon a modified Swedish Flag with a Y pattern for Ytterby and a homage to the flag of Switzerland.  This is because the man who discovered Ytterbium was Swiss, Jean Charles Galissard de Marignac.

Fun Flag for Erbium, Element 68

A fun flag for Erbium, Element 68 based upon the flag of Sweden but with Y motif for Ytterby and the red and white pattern for the local municipality - Vaxholm.

The Vaxholm Coat of Arms consist of a counter colour charge of red and white, featuring a traditional sail ship and iconic castle silhouette.

Fun Flag for Terbium - Element 65

A fun flag for Element 65, Terbium, has a Y version of the Swedish Flag with a modified coat of arms for Stockholm County.  Instead of St. Eric Tb is the elemental symbol.  The Z number takes the place of the holy orb. Finally the Griffin is replaced by a model atom.

Yttrium Fun Flag - Element 39 from Ytterby, Sweden

A fun flag for Yttrium based upon the flag of Sweden.  But on the inner shield the colours and pattern are reflective of Finland.  Reason being, the scientist who indeed found it was from Finland, Johan Gadolin.

Morse Code Flag for SOS - Save our Souls! or Save Our Ship!

SOS is the most known and popular prosign of Morse Code.  Coincidentally the letters for S and O both have three pulses.  The S has at three DOTS or rather, Dits.  And the O has three DASHES or rather, Dahs.  When represented by stars for Dits and Dahs for stripes, we have an elegant flag- the SOS flag.

The background colour is yellow while the DOTS and DASHES are black.  These colours are natural warning colours found in nature, as with the pattern of the wasp and bee, and some snakes and other venomous organisms. Thus this flag conveys a sense of urgency!

SOS officially means "Save Our Souls" but can stand for "Save Our Ship."

Morse Code Flag for the Letter Z - Zulu _ _ . .

The letter Z in Morse Code is a blue flag with white stars and stripes.  The pattern is based upon the order set in Morse Code.  The colours are also based upon the order found in the visible spectrum.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter Y - Yankee

The Yankee Morse Code Flag is blue and red.  Some may say light blue or sky blue, but it is blue nonetheless.  The star and stripes are red.  The order of stripes and star is based upon the Morse Code pattern for the letter Y.  The three stripes are reflective of the three DASHES for the letter Y, while the one star is reflective of the one DOT.

The colours are based upon the numerical value for the ones place of the letter Y.  And the letter the Y is 25th number in the English Alphabet.  And 5 is the ones place value.  And 5 is set to a light colour blue.  Red is used because red is the set contrast indicator for light blue.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter X - X-Ray : _ . . _

The Morse Code Flag for the letter X has two stripes and two stars.  The order is reflective of the specific code for X which is related to DOTS and DASHES.  Since Morse Code Flags are always read downwards, it clearly spells out DASH, DOT, DOT, DASH, which is the letter X in Morse Code.

The flag has a green background because the letter X is the 24th letter of the alphabet.  The number 4 is coded to green, because, green is the 4th colour of the rainbow/spectrum. Yellow is included because yellow is the contrast minority-indicator for a green background/field.  Also note that the tens place value for twenty-four is ignored.   Only the ones place value is used to set the main colour of the background, which for the letter X is 4, that is coded to green. Thus we have a dominantly green flag for the letter X in Morse Code.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter W - Whiskey

The Morse Code Flag for the 23rd letter of the alphabet has a yellow background.  The reason being is that 3 is coded to the colour yellow.  The tens column number of 2 from 23 is ignored.  The star and stripes are blue because blue is the assigned contrast indicator for yellow. Additionally the stars and stripes are coded to DOTS and DASHES, which in this case reflects Morse Code for the letter W.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter V - Victor . . . _

The Morse Code Flag for the letter V has three stars, one stripe, and an orange background.  Morse Code Flags have the DOTS and DASHES coded to Stars and Stripes.  Thus this flag when read downwards reads the letter V in code.  It has an orange background because V is the 22nd letter in the alphabet.  The number 2 is coded to orange.

Coincidentally the Morse Code V flag is nearly a perfect invert of the Morse Code B Flag, the stars are below on B while above on V.  How strange?  This closeness is also reflected in the keyboard, whereby V and B are next to each other, and often lead to typos.  Additionally many non-native speakers of English easily get these two sounds confused.  And even if you are a native English speaker, the first time one speaks to new individual who says V or B, it is very easy to confuse.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter U - Uniform

The Morse Code Flag for the letter U has a red background, two white stars, and one white stripe.  The stars represent DOTS while the Stripe represents a DASH, in Morse Code.  As these types of flag are always read downwards it reflects the nature of the letter U.  The flag is red, because this colour is coded to the number 1.  As the letter U is the 21st letter of the alphabet, we have a red flag.  Also note the numeral 2 from 21 is ignored, since Morse Code flags only use the ones place value to calibrate the colour.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter T - Tango _

The Morse Code Flag for the letter T is a simple white flag with one black stripe.  The one stripe is reflective of the one DASH for the letter T or Tango.  The flag is white because T is the 20th letter, with zero in the ones place digit, which is calibrated to white.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter S - Sierra . . .

The Morse Code Flag for the Letter S has a pink background.  Reason being, the letter S is the 19th letter of the alphabet.  And the number in the ones value is calibrated to the order; and 9 is coded to pink.  The three stars represent aDOTS, and are blue because blue is the contrast indicator for pink.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter R - Romeo . _ .

The Flag for the letter R is black and white.  The stars represent DOTS while the Stripe represents a DASH.  The black background is coded to the number eight.  We have a black flag because R is the 18th letter.  Morse Code Flag background colour is based upon the ones digit value, as the tens digit value is ignored.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter Q - Quebec . . .

The Morse Code Flag for the letter Q has three stripes and one star.  The stripes and stars are reflective of the Morse Code DASH, DASH, DOT, DASH.  Q is the 17th letter of the alphabet, its one digit value is a seven, consequently the colour of the flag is violet because violet is the 7th colour of the visible spectrum. The star and stripes are yellow, because yellow is the assigned contrast indicator for violet.

Fun Flag for Magnesium - Element #12

Flag for for the 12 Element - Magnesium - is based upon the flag of Greece and the area flag of Thessaly.  Reason being that Magnesium is named after this region of Magnesia, Greece.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter P - Papa . _ _ .

The Stars and Stripes for the Morse Code Flag reflect the DOT, DASH, DASH, DOT.  Incidentally the Morse Code P-Flag matches the colours for the P-Flag in International Maritime Flags, which is dark blue and white.  The Morse Code Papa flag is coded to the colour indigo (dark blue) since the ones digit value for P is a six, since it is the 16th letter in the alphabet.  The colours of the regular maritime flags are essentially arbitrary, but Morse Coded Flags have a scientific and logical progression to their design.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter O - Oscar _ _ _

Morse Code for the letter O has three DASHES, therefore the flag for Morse Code Oscar has three stripes.  The blue background reflects the ones place value for this letter which is 5.  Although O is letter number 15, the ones value sets the colour value.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter N - November _ .

The letter N in Morse Code is a DASH  and DOT.  Therefore the flag has a Stripe and Star.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter M - Mike _ _

The Morse Code Flag for the Letter M has two blue stripes on a yellow background.  The stripes represent the DASHES.  Why yellow?  Because yellow represents the 3rd, but the letter M is the 13th letter, yet only the ones place value sets the colour, and remember that yellow is the third colour of the visible spectrum.

Fun Lutetium Flag - Element 71 Lutetia-Paris Elemental

Since Lutetium is the Maiden Name of Paris, we have the fun Paris-Lutetia Flag for Element 71.  "Why they didn't just call it Paris-ium?"... is a mystery.  Lutetium gets its namesake from Paris's old Roman name - Lutetia.

City Flag of Paris, France with Coat of Arms - Lutetia
The flag of Paris is blue and red, minus the white.  A modified coat of arms based upon the city coat of arms for Paris is used.  Instead of a sailing ship we have the symbol for Alchemy.  This symbol is the basis of Philosopher's Stone, which was recently popularized by the Harry Potter books.  It deals with the old mathematical impossibility of squaring a circle.  After deep contemplation one can get a some insight to the nature of the Philosopher's Stone.  Perhaps it is better to call it Philosopher's Mineral or Philosophite?  Anyways a properly grounded Philosopher's Stone is said to be a red or white powder that can turn certain metals into silver or gold.   Apparently "Philosophite" has proton-neutron resequencing nucelar capabilites?  Perhaps this Philosopher's material is related to Extra-Solar Alien tech, left overtime travelers tools, a metaphor for the mind, or just plain dreamy nonsense.

But for our dandy flag, instead of a yellow fleur-de-lis we have yellow atoms.  Likewise the medals have been replaced with the Three Primes of Alchemy according to Paracelsus.  On the left blue side is a symbol for sulfur, which represents the soul.  On the right red side is the symbol of mercury, which represents the spirit.  And in the middle is the symbol for salt, which represents the basis of matter and the body.

Definitely weird stuff here.  Funny thing is element 71, Parisinonite, baffles scientists.  Some want to classify it on the f block, some on d block.  It's always good to see an element that just won't be logically labeled.  As this Universe is composed of illogical elements, which in of itself is so very logical.

Enjoy the video below!

Morse Code Flag for the Letter L - Lima . _ . .

The Morse Code Flag for the letter L has an orange background.  Reason being, L is the 12th letter in the alphabet, and the background is based upon the ones column digit value of a letter.  The tens digit place value is ignored.  As orange is the second colour of the spectrum, we have an orange flag with black as the contrast indicator.  Since stars are coded to DOTS and stripes are coded to DASHES, this is the subsequent pattern revealed.  It coincidentally looks like a leopard pattern, so you can think L for the Leopard from Lima.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter K - Kilo _ . _

The Morse Code Flag for the letter K is vexillologically natural, looking more like the flag of a nation-state.  But the stars and stripes of Morse Code Flags are coded to DOTS and DASHES.  Since these flags are read downwards, it spells out K in Morse Code.  Additionally K is the 11th letter of the alphabet, this makes the background red since the background colour is based upon the ones value of the letter.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter J - Juliette

Morse Code Flags have stripes and stars that reflect the DOTS and DASHES of Morse Code.  Consequently the one star and three stripes for the letter J flag reference the one DOT and three DASHES of J in Morse Code.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter I - India . .

The Morse Code Flag for India is pink with two blue stars.  The two blue stars represent the DOTS in Morse Code.  Since this letter does not have any DASHES there are no stripes.  Also pink is coded to the number 9, so the background is pink.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter H - Hotel: . . . .

The Morse Code flag for the Letter H has four stars.  In this case, stars represent dots.  Likewise there are no dashes, subsequently there are no stripes.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter G - Golf: _ _ .

The letter G in Morse Code is a DASH, DASH, DOT.  This translates to a STRIPE, STRIPE, STAR.  Since violet is the 7th colour of the spectrum and G is the 7th letter of the Alphabet we have a violet, or purple, flag. The stripes and star are yellow because yellow is the assigned contrast indicator for violet.

Morse Code Flag of the Letter F - Foxtrot: . . _ .

The Morse Code flag for the letter F has an indigo, or dark blue, background.  Reason being, indigo is the 6th colour of the spectrum and F is the 6th letter of the alphabet.  The star, star, stripe, star reflects Morse Code's DOT, DOT, DASH, DOT.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter E: Echo .

Since E is the 5th letter in the alphabet it gets the 5th colour of the spectrum which is blue.   As Morse Code for E is a simple DOT, we only have one simple star.

Monday, January 16, 2017

Morse Code Flag for the Letter D - Delta: _ . .

As green is the fourth colour in the spectrum and D is the fourth letter of the alphabet, we have a green background.  The yellow stripe and two yellow stars are reflective of the Morse Code for the letter D.  The stars and stripe are yellow because this colour is the contrast indicator for a green background.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter C - Charlie: _ . _ .

Morse Code Flag for the Letter C, Charlie.   This flag is yellow because C is the third letter in the alphabet and yellow is the 3rd colour in the rainbow.  Blue is the contrast indicator for yellow.  Thus the STRIPE, STAR, STRIPE, STAR indicates Morse Code for DASH, DOT, DASH, DOT.

Morse Code for the Letter B - Bravo: _ . . .

Since B is the second letter in the alphabet, it gets the second colour in the spectrum - orange.  Black is the contrast indicator.  Subsequently the stars and stripe that represent the DASH, DOT, DOT, DOT  are all black.  Remember that Morse Code Flags are always read downwards.

Morse Code Flag for the Letter A - Alpha: . _

The Morse Code Flag for the letter A consists of one star and one dash, which is reflective of one dot and one dash.  Since the letter A is the first letter of the alphabet it is coded to 1, and the first colour of the spectrum is red, consequently the background is red, and the contrast indicator is white.

Morse Code Flag for the Number Nine: 9 = _ _ _ _ .

Morse Code Flags are new addition to the fun field of International Flag Signals.  In this case the number nine which in Morse Code is DASH DASH DASH DOT is represented in the flag with four blue stripes and one star.  Reason being, stripes represent DASHES while stars represent DOTS.

Morse Code Flag for the Number Eight: 8 = _ _ _ . .

Dash, Dash, Dash, Dot, Dot is Morse Code for the Number 8.  But the flag has a Stripe, Stripe, Stripe, Star, Star which reflects this nature.

Morse Code Flag for the Number Seven: 7 = _ _ . . .

The Morse Code Flag for the Number 7 have two stripes and three stars.  The two stripes are for the first two dashes, while the three stars are for the next three dots.
